How to Secure Nigeria’s 2025 Creative Development Fund

The Nigerian government has rolled out the first phase of the Creative Economy Development Fund (CEDF), a financing initiative designed to support the nation’s expanding creative and cultural sectors. The program seeks to strengthen various industries, reinforcing Nigeria’s position as a key competitor in the global creative economy.

Approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC), the fund was unveiled by the Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy. It is open to a wide range of beneficiaries, including writers, publishers, artists, fashion designers, filmmakers, gaming developers, cultural tourism operators, media platforms, logistics providers, and training institutions.

The application window for Phase One closes on May 30, 2025, while Phase Two, aimed at SMEs and startups, will open on August 4, 2025.

Application Process

Interested applicants must:

  • Visit the official CEDF platform
  • Complete the application form with the required details
  • Submit necessary documents, including a five-year business plan

Reports indicate that only funding requests of $100,000 or more will be considered in the initial phase.

The Ministry emphasized that this initiative supports the federal government’s strategy to diversify the economy beyond oil and strengthen Nigeria’s cultural impact worldwide.
