The Nigerian government has launched the Creative Economy Development Fund to boost its thriving arts and culture sectors and attract global investment beyond oil.
With Phase One open until May 30, creatives like filmmakers, artists, and publishers can apply for funding from $100,000 upward. Phase Two, targeting startups and SMEs, begins in August.
The Nigerian government has rolled out the first phase of the Creative Economy Development Fund (CEDF), a financing initiative designed to support the nation’s expanding creative and cultural sectors. The program seeks to strengthen various industries, reinforcing Nigeria’s position as a key competitor in the global creative economy.
Approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC), the fund was unveiled by the Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy. It is open to a wide range of beneficiaries, including writers, publishers, artists, fashion designers, filmmakers, gaming developers, cultural tourism operators, media platforms, logistics providers, and training institutions.
The application window for Phase One closes on May 30, 2025, while Phase Two, aimed at SMEs and startups, will open on August 4, 2025.
