Tinubu Intervenes as Wike Seals PDP Secretariat, Draws Praise from Dele Momodu
President Tinubu has reportedly stepped in to address the sealing of the PDP headquarters by FCT Minister Wike, a move widely criticized as politically charged and destabilizing.
Veteran journalist Dele Momodu commended Tinubu’s intervention, warning that unchecked actions by Wike could undermine democracy. He also urged the President to restore calm in Rivers State’s tense political climate.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reportedly intervened in the controversy surrounding the sealing of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national secretariat in Abuja by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike. This action has drawn commendation from veteran journalist and political commentator, Chief Dele Momodu.

In a statement shared from the United States, Momodu criticized Wike’s actions, describing him as a “cantankerous” and “querulous” figure whose recent decisions risk destabilizing the political climate and undermining democratic values. He emphasized that while government enforcement against defaulters is necessary, it must not be driven by political vendetta.
Momodu praised President Tinubu’s timely intervention, noting that it reaffirmed Tinubu’s authority as the singular leader of Nigeria’s federal government. He remarked, “We used to think we have two Presidents in Nigeria, TINUBU and WIKE. Now, we know WIKE has a Boss who can checkmate his excesses.”
Furthermore, Momodu urged President Tinubu to take decisive action to bring stability to Rivers State, where former governor Wike has been accused of disrupting Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s administration. He expressed hope that Tinubu would have intervened earlier to prevent what he termed the “reckless disruption and distraction” of the Fubara government.
The controversy surrounding Wike’s actions has sparked debate, with some speculating about the dynamics between Tinubu and Wike. Momodu previously stated that Wike’s relevance is tied to Tinubu, suggesting that without the President’s backing, Wike would lose influence. Others have accused Tinubu of using Wike to destabilize the PDP and other opposition parties ahead of the 2027 election
This development underscores the ongoing tensions within the PDP and the broader Nigerian political landscape, as key figures navigate complex inter-party dynamics and governance challenges.
