127 Foreign Nationals Arrested in Kano Over Cybercrime, Irregular Migration
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has arrested 127 foreign nationals in Kano State for their alleged involvement in cybercrime and illegal migration activities. The arrests were carried out by operatives of the service during a recent raid in the Hotoro Ring Road area of Nasarawa Local Government Area.
According to the Kano State Comptroller of Immigration, Kabir Danja, the operation was based on credible intelligence pointing to a hideout where the suspects were allegedly operating. Danja disclosed that of the 127 foreigners arrested, 86 were from Niger Republic and 41 from Chad. He also confirmed the arrest of 80 Nigerian citizens during the same operation, bringing the total number of suspects to 206.

Danja explained that the suspects comprising 185 males and 21 females were between the ages of 25 and 35. “Most of the foreign nationals were found without legal travel documents or residence permits, having entered the country through unauthorized routes,” he added.
The Immigration Comptroller revealed that the Nigerian suspects have been handed over to the police for further investigation and possible prosecution. Meanwhile, the foreign nationals remain in custody pending the conclusion of investigations.
He further disclosed that the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap, has ordered the repatriation of all irregular migrants once inquiries into their activities are completed.
The NIS warned that it will continue to intensify efforts to monitor and clamp down on criminal elements and unauthorized migrants across the country. The recent operation, authorities say, is part of broader measures aimed at protecting national security and reducing cybercrime networks operating within Nigerian borders.
