Jemima Osunde Urges Fans to Stop Filming Her Without Consent in Public

Actress Jemima Osunde has urged fans to stop recording her in public without consent, calling the behavior intrusive and emotionally distressing.

After a recent incident while shopping, she took to X to plead for boundaries, sparking fresh debate over celebrity privacy in today’s content-driven social media culture.

Nollywood actress Jemima Osunde has appealed to fans and content creators to respect her privacy after she was filmed without her permission in a public space, an experience she described as intrusive and distressing.

The incident, which occurred recently while she was shopping, prompted Osunde to voice her concerns on X (formerly Twitter), where she urged people to stop recording her unexpectedly in public places.

She wrote:

“I know everyone is a content creator now but please don’t see me outside and immediately shove a camera in my face. I’m begging you ,” she wrote. “Imagine picking tampons off the shelf and then you turn to see a camera in your face mahn. Hi and nice to meet you but please no.”

The actress’s post has since generated widespread discussion online, with many supporting her call for boundaries despite her celebrity status. The reactions highlight a growing tension between public figures’ right to privacy and the rise of unsolicited filming driven by social media culture.

Some users backed her appeal, saying celebrities are still entitled to personal space. One commenter wrote, “People are funny shaa, because you met a celebrity doesn’t mean they don’t deserve privacy.” “It isn’t right gaskiya… But as a celebrity, things like that are bound to happen, and you know, not everyone will understand your dislike… Keep growing high superstar,” one commented.

However, others took a different view. “It’s the same thing everywhere in the world, you should be happy that you are a celebrity that is widely loved,” another post read.

Osunde’s message comes amid increasing concerns from public figures over invasive fan behavior, particularly in an era where nearly everyone has a camera and online platform. The actress emphasized that while she appreciates her fans, random filming without consent crosses a boundary.

Her post has reignited conversations around celebrity privacy, respect, and the responsibilities of content creators in public settings.
