Kano Police Arrest 41 Suspects Over Brutal Killing of Senior Officer CSP Baba Ali
The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of no fewer than 41 individuals in connection with the heinous murder of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Baba Ali, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Rano Division. The incident, which has sent shockwaves across the state and beyond, is being treated as a grave assault not only on the Nigerian Police Force but also on the rule of law and public safety.
The late officer, CSP Baba Ali, was reportedly killed while performing his lawful duties. The police described the attack as a deliberate and vicious act that targeted a law enforcement officer in the line of duty, highlighting the growing risks faced by security personnel in the country. The Command emphasized that the attack was more than just a criminal act it was a blatant affront to the authority and integrity of Nigeria’s security institutions.
A statement released on Wednesday by the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, condemned the murder in strong terms. “This senseless killing is a grave attack on the very fabric of our society and a direct assault on the sacrifices of our brave officers who risk their lives daily to protect our communities,” Kiyawa said.
According to the police spokesperson, the incident did not only involve the murder of the senior officer but was also marked by acts of arson and public disorder. As soon as the tragic event occurred, the Police Command sprang into action, deploying a team of officers to the area to control the situation and begin thorough investigations.
Within a short time, 41 individuals suspected to have played varying roles in the attack were apprehended. SP Kiyawa stated that among the arrested suspects were those believed to be the principal actors directly involved in the brutal killing of CSP Baba Ali. The command has assured the public that it will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that all those responsible for the heinous act are brought to book.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, assures the public that the Command is fully committed to ensuring the safety and security of all lives and property in the State,” the statement noted. CP Bakori also reiterated the importance of community cooperation, urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or individuals that could aid the ongoing investigation.
He further appreciated the outpouring of condolences and solidarity messages received from members of the public, traditional leaders, civil society organizations, and political stakeholders. He described the loss of CSP Baba Ali as deeply painful, not only to the police family but to all peace-loving citizens of Kano State.
As investigations continue, the police have assured the public that the arrested suspects will be thoroughly interrogated and prosecuted in accordance with the law. Authorities also warned that anyone found attempting to shield the suspects or obstruct the course of justice would face severe consequences.
Meanwhile, the late officer has been described by colleagues as a dedicated and disciplined officer who served the force with distinction. Tributes continue to pour in as the state mourns the tragic loss of one of its most committed security operatives.
