Man Collapses After Wife Delivers Triplets in Kogi, Family Appeals for Help

A heartwarming moment took a dramatic turn at the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, Kogi State, on Friday when a man identified as Adamu Muhammed Tenimu reportedly fainted upon hearing that his wife had just delivered a set of triplets.

According to eyewitnesses at the hospital, the incident unfolded shortly after the delivery of the three baby girls. Tenimu, who was unaware that his wife was expecting more than one child, was said to be overcome by intense emotions upon receiving the news. The overwhelming mix of joy, shock, and anxiety caused him to slump to the ground.

Medical staff and concerned sympathizers present at the hospital quickly rushed to his aid. After a few tense moments, they managed to revive him, bringing relief to those around.

The hospital confirmed that both the mother and her triplets are in good health and being monitored closely. However, the unexpected nature of the birth has left the family in a state of financial and emotional distress.

Speaking to journalists after regaining consciousness, Tenimu shared his joy but also poured out his concerns. A job seeker with limited income, he revealed that the family had only prepared for the arrival of one baby. The pregnancy had not been subjected to consistent antenatal scanning due to financial limitations, making the news of triplets a complete surprise.

“I thank God for this miracle, but I’m deeply confused and worried. We were only expecting one baby, and now we have three. Right now, we don’t even have the money to pay for hospital bills, let alone take care of three newborns,” he said, his voice shaking with emotion.

Tenimu’s reaction quickly drew sympathy from hospital staff, family members, and visitors at the facility. Many were moved by his situation and called for immediate assistance to support the young family.

A relative who preferred not to be named expressed concern over the family’s current condition. “The babies are doing well, but this family is struggling. They need baby clothes, formula, diapers, and proper nutrition for the mother. They also need help settling the hospital bills. We’re appealing to anyone who can assist, be it the government, NGOs, religious organizations, or kind-hearted individuals.”

The birth of triplets, though a blessing, often comes with significant financial and emotional demands. Friends and supporters have begun mobilizing efforts to draw attention to the family’s plight. Many have turned to social media, asking for donations and sharing the family’s story to encourage public support.

Calls have also gone out to the Kogi State Government, the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, and relevant humanitarian organizations to step in. Supporters are hopeful that emergency assistance ranging from baby supplies and medical aid to financial support can be provided to help the family transition smoothly into this new chapter.

As of the time of this report, several individuals have expressed interest in helping, but more widespread support is still needed to ensure the long-term wellbeing of the mother and her newborn daughters.

This story serves as a reminder of the unexpected twists life can bring, and the power of community in moments of both joy and need.
