Bryan Mbeumo Favors Manchester United Move as Red Devils Lead Transfer Race
Manchester United are closing in on Bryan Mbeumo as the Brentford star prioritizes a move to Old Trafford despite rival Premier League interest.
The Red Devils are set to open talks as manager Ruben Amorim eyes Mbeumo’s firepower to revive their attack after a disastrous 2024/25 season.
Manchester United have emerged as frontrunners to sign Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo, with the 25-year-old prioritizing a move to Old Trafford this summer, despite interest from several Premier League rivals.

According to David Ornstein, Mbeumo has made it clear he wants to join United, who are now “steaming ahead” in their pursuit of the Cameroonian forward. The Red Devils are reportedly preparing to open formal negotiations with Brentford, who have set a £60 million valuation for their prized attacker.
United’s attacking overhaul
The push for Mbeumo follows a dismal 2024/25 season in which United finished 15th in the Premier League, scoring a meagre 44 goals. New manager Ruben Amorim is eager to address the club’s attacking frailties and has already secured Matheus Cunha from Wolves. Mbeumo, who scored a career-best 20 goals last season, has been identified as a key target to inject flair and firepower into United’s frontline.
Amorim is also keen to reinforce the No. 10 position, and Mbeumo’s versatility, capable of playing across the front line, makes him an ideal addition.
Brentford brace for exit
Brentford boss Thomas Frank has admitted that the club is bracing for Mbeumo’s exit but insists the forward won’t be sold cheaply, despite having just 12 months left on his current contract (plus a one-year option). Arsenal and Newcastle have expressed interest, with Newcastle holding preliminary talks, but concerns over Brentford’s valuation may see them back off.
United ready to meet demands
United, on the other hand, are reportedly willing to meet Brentford’s asking price to secure Mbeumo’s services, even if it requires a major sale to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). TEAMtalk reports that club sources believe United are the most likely to present a package that Brentford “will find impossible to refuse.”
With talks between the clubs expected soon, all signs point to Mbeumo making the switch to Manchester if terms can be agreed, marking a significant step in Amorim’s rebuild.
Mbeumo to United is heating up fast and could soon become one of the summer’s defining transfers.
