Falz Opens Up on Online Trolls, Legal Action and the Discipline It Takes to Stay Silent
Falz, the Nigerian rapper and activist, has opened up about navigating online trolling, revealing how he often restrains himself from reacting but draws the line at false accusations and defamation.
During a candid podcast interview, he spoke about personal discipline, legal boundaries, and why some critics aren’t worth a response, emphasizing that truth and integrity will always prevail.
Popular Nigerian rapper and activist, Falz, has shed light on how he handles the constant barrage of online criticism and trolling, revealing that while he often holds back from engaging trolls, he draws the line when it comes to defamation.

Speaking during a recent appearance on the Dear Ife podcast, the artist discussed his experiences with public scrutiny, his approach to activism, and his evolving journey in the spotlight. He admitted that dealing with negativity online can be frustrating, and that he has, on several occasions, been tempted to respond harshly.
“It’s annoying and I’m not going to lie. A lot of moments I see comments people make here and there and I wonder, ‘Are you stupid? Or daft?’ But what can I do? I also have to do a lot of holding back. I have to hold myself back a lot!” he said.
Falz went on to explain how he manages to keep his composure despite the provocations, often reminding himself that some individuals aren’t deserving of a reaction.
“There are moments when I just have to stop and tell myself, ‘This person is not worthy of my voice.’ I tell myself that I can’t react to certain people and there have been times when I was close,” he admitted.
He credited his ability to stay grounded to personal growth, discipline, and the support of his management team. “Thankfully, I have a great management team; they keep me grounded. I remind myself from time to time that it’s not worth it. At the end of the day, I’m a firm believer that the truth will always come to light,” he said.
However, Falz made it clear that he would not hesitate to take legal action when his character is falsely attacked.
“Legally, I would always respond. If anything is after my reputation and it’s untrue, I would definitely go legal. The case is still in court. I’m not going to do tit for tat with anybody, are they mad?” he concluded.
