Anambra State Police Command scored a major victory in the fight against organized crime by arresting three armed robbery suspects and recovering luxury cars, phones, and firearms.
The coordinated raid, led by the Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu, followed intelligence from a detained suspect and marks a significant step in dismantling violent criminal networks in the region.
In a significant breakthrough against organized crime, the Anambra State Police Command has apprehended three suspected armed robbers and recovered a cache of stolen property and weaponry, following a coordinated operation led by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) based in Awkuzu.
The arrests took place in the early hours of Thursday, May 30, 2025, after officers received credible intelligence from a suspect already in custody. Acting swiftly on this information, the RRS operatives launched a targeted raid that led to the arrest of three individuals: Monday Onoja, Sanusi Muhammed, and Kenneth Nwokpu. All three suspects are males between the ages of 27 and 32.
During the operation, officers also recovered several valuable items believed to have been stolen during various criminal activities. Among the recovered items were a white Mercedes Benz C300 4Matic with registration number KWC 140, an ash-colored Lexus RX 350 bearing registration number 669 CY, and two high-end smartphones. In addition to these items, the police also seized an automatic pump-action shotgun believed to have been used by the suspects in their operations.

A police spokesperson for the Command, who confirmed the incident, described the arrests as a major win in the ongoing battle against criminal gangs operating across the state. He stated that the successful operation was made possible due to strategic intelligence-gathering, effective surveillance, and the cooperation of informants. “This operation is a clear testament to the dedication and alertness of our men on the field,” the spokesperson noted.
According to the Command, the arrested suspects are currently undergoing interrogation and have begun providing useful information that may assist the police in further dismantling the syndicate to which they allegedly belong. Investigations have since been broadened, with operatives intensifying efforts to track down and apprehend other gang members who are believed to still be on the run.
The police have assured members of the public that every necessary measure is being put in place to ensure the complete dismantling of the criminal network. “We will not relent until every member of this syndicate is brought to justice,” the spokesperson said. “The Command remains committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property in Anambra State.”
He further encouraged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or call emergency lines, stressing that community involvement remains critical in enhancing security.
This recent development underscores the proactive posture of the Anambra State Police Command under the current leadership, aimed at curbing the rising incidents of violent crime, armed robbery, and car thefts in the region. By promptly responding to intelligence and swiftly conducting targeted operations, the police are reinforcing public trust and restoring confidence in law enforcement.
Residents of the state have expressed appreciation for the police’s efforts, especially in swiftly retrieving valuable stolen items and apprehending suspects who might have continued to pose a threat to the public. Security analysts have also applauded the operation, describing it as a necessary step toward reducing crime and reclaiming public safety across the state.
As investigations continue, the police have promised to provide further updates and have urged the public to continue supporting the efforts of law enforcement agencies in combating crime.
