Jessie J Reveals Breast Cancer Diagnosis, Plans Surgery After Upcoming Performance
Pop star Jessie J reveals she’s battling early-stage breast cancer, sharing the news with honesty and humor ahead of her Wembley show.
She plans surgery after her performance and hopes her story brings strength to others, saying she’ll return with new music, bigger boobs, and a fresh outlook.
Renowned English singer-songwriter Jessie J has courageously announced her diagnosis with early-stage breast cancer. The 37-year-old shared the emotional update in a heartfelt Instagram post, revealing that she plans to undergo surgery after her upcoming performance at Capital’s Summertime Ball at London’s Wembley Stadium later this month.
“I was diagnosed with early breast cancer,” she wrote. “Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m clinging to the word ‘early.’”
Blending her usual humor with honesty, Jessie joked, “It’s quite a dramatic way to get a boob job.” I’m going to disappear for a bit after the Summertime Ball to have my surgery. I’ll be back with bigger boobs and new music.”

Jessie, whose real name is Jessica Cornish, said she chose to speak publicly about her diagnosis to help process the overwhelming emotions and to offer support to others who may be facing similar battles. She explained, “I simply felt the need to be open and share this.” “Partly because I haven’t really been talking about it, and I know I need to. Also, because in the past, sharing has brought me so much love and support and hearing other people’s stories always gives me strength. I’ve always been an open book.”
The singer admitted the news has been tough to digest but shared that she’s trying to find light in the experience. “The timing of it all has been wild, both challenging and beautiful. It has offered me a fresh perspective on life.”
“But honestly,” she added, “I need to talk about it, to let it out, and yeah, I need a hug. You’ve loved me through every season of my life, and I hope this won’t be any different.”
Jessie’s announcement comes just two years after she welcomed her first child, Sky Safir Cornish Colman, in 2023. The joyous arrival followed a painful miscarriage in 2021, a loss she also shared publicly.
As Jessie prepares to undergo surgery, fans around the world have flooded her page with love, encouragement, and heartfelt prayers. Her openness continues to inspire many, reminding everyone of the strength in vulnerability and the power of community support.
