Former Nollywood actor Linc Edochie has spoken out in defense of his new wife, Yinka, after facing a wave of online criticism from trolls who mocked her appearance and labeled her an “old cargo.” The backlash intensified after Yinka dropped a comment on her brother-in-law Yul Edochie’s Instagram page, drawing the attention of online users.
In a video shared online, Linc addressed the negative comments and expressed his frustration over the constant attacks on his family. He urged critics to leave his wife and loved ones out of the drama, stating that his family isn’t responsible for Nigeria’s problems and shouldn’t be the target of such hate.
“For the past 24 to 48 hours, social media has been on fire over photos of me and my wife,” Linc said. “People have been attacking us, throwing insults for no reason, and I can’t help but ask why people can’t just let others live in peace?”
He condemned the harsh criticisms, particularly from bloggers who have accused his family of everything from ritualism to allegedly spending money belonging to May Edochie, Yul’s estranged wife.
“When bloggers were calling my family names saying we used voodoo, that we’re ritualists, and that we spent May’s money, I had to ask myself, where is all this nonsense coming from? No evidence, no proof, just wild accusations,” he said.
Linc went on to directly address those mocking his wife’s age and appearance. “You’re saying I married an ‘old cargo, and I just laughed,” he said. “Do you have any idea who she truly is? Do you know what kind of person she is? People are so quick to judge without knowing anything.”
He concluded by emphasizing the importance of respect, especially in Nigerian culture, warning that karma has a way of dealing with those who throw baseless insults at others.
Linc’s response has drawn support from many fans, who praised him for standing up for his wife and taking a dignified stand against online bullying.
