The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has firmly denied recent claims circulating online that he visited a native doctor to seek spiritual support for his reelection bid. The allegations, which emerged from a viral video clip, have been described by the state government as baseless and fabricated with the intent to mislead the public.
In a press statement released on Wednesday, the Governor’s Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, refuted the narrative, labeling it “totally false” and “maliciously fabricated.” The statement clarified that the video making the rounds was not of any spiritual consultation but was instead footage from a creative engagement between the Governor and local content creators.
“During the session, one of the content creators performed a skit, a common comic genre in Nigerian entertainment, to showcase their creative abilities,” Aburime explained. The gathering, according to him, was part of Governor Soludo’s continued support and promotion of Anambra’s creative industry.
The press secretary went on to express disappointment over how the footage was being deliberately misinterpreted by critics and political opponents in an effort to tarnish the Governor’s image. “The government expresses disappointment that critics and political opponents would deliberately misrepresent the video to spread misinformation,” he noted.
Governor Soludo’s administration has been actively investing in initiatives that promote youth empowerment and creative expression in the state. One such project is the recently launched Solution Fun City, which is designed to serve as a hub for entertainment, tourism, and talent development.
“Governor Soludo’s commitment to developing Anambra’s creative economy is evident in projects like the recently commissioned Solution Fun City. We urge the public to disregard the misinformation and verify information before sharing or amplifying content,” Aburime appealed.
In conclusion, the statement reaffirmed that the Governor remains focused on delivering on his electoral promises through the implementation of the Solution Agenda. “Governor Soludo’s commitment to the development of Anambra State and his focus on delivering the Solution Agenda is top priority now,” the press release stated.
The government has urged residents of Anambra and the broader Nigerian public to be cautious of politically motivated propaganda, emphasizing the importance of discerning truth from misleading content in the digital age.
