Jide Awobona Complains About Car Washers in Traffic
Actor Jide Awobona slammed street vendors who wash cars in traffic without consent, calling it disrespectful and annoying.
He urged them to ask first or sell snacks instead, sparking online conversations about boundaries between motorists and roadside vendors in Nigeria.
Nollywood actor Jide Awobona has expressed his frustration over a growing trend among some street vendors who wash cars in traffic without the owners’ consent.
Taking to his Instagram page, Awobona shared a humorous but firm message, stating that the practice has become increasingly irritating and intrusive. He jokingly hinted that he might soon be forced to take action if it continues.
“Enough is enough. Get your camera ready in Lagos and Ibadan, I’m about to become a masquerade. I need a koboko or pankere plug,” he wrote.
Awobona emphasized that he finds it disrespectful when vendors approach his vehicle and begin washing it with soap without permission. He urged them to either ask for assistance or stick to selling items like snacks, rather than taking such unsolicited actions.
“I can’t take this anymore. I don’t know how others feel, but as for me, I can’t take you washing my car in traffic, no permission, no nothing,” he continued. “Who told you I even wash my car with soap? Just beg for money or sell kulikuli.”
He concluded by warning that if he is ever seen flogging someone on the road, it would likely be because of this ongoing issue.
The post, though delivered with humor, sheds light on the daily frustrations some motorists face on Nigerian roads, and has sparked conversations about boundaries and respect between street vendors and road users.
