MOUAU Warns Against Fake Admission Offers for Candidates with 150 UTME Score
Michael Okpara University of Agriculture has warned the public against fake admission claims targeting UTME candidates with scores of 150 and above.
Officials say no cut-off marks have been released, and admissions will only be announced through verified university and JAMB platforms.
Authorities at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), Abia State, have issued a strong warning to the public over a fraudulent admission campaign targeting unsuspecting candidates who scored 150 and above in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
According to a statement released by the University Registrar, Dr. Nkeiruka Charity Mbanasor, the university has disowned any publication or advertisement claiming it is currently admitting candidates with 150 UTME scores into its College of Management Sciences (COLMAS).
The false advertisements, which surfaced across various social media platforms, had urged prospective students to apply for undergraduate programs in disciplines such as accounting, banking and finance, marketing, economics, and business administration.
Dr. Mbanasor clarified that neither the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) nor the university’s Admission Board has officially released the cut-off marks for the 2025/2026 academic session. She further warned that the university has not authorized any admission process outside its official communications channels.
“The general public and prospective candidates are advised to disregard these misleading publications. Admissions into our programs are only announced via the official website of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike,” the registrar emphasized.
She urged students and parents to be vigilant and avoid falling victim to individuals or groups attempting to exploit their desperation to gain university admission. Dr. Mbanasor also reiterated the university’s commitment to transparency and adherence to standard admission procedures as guided by national regulatory bodies.
Despite the warning against fraudulent activities, the university did share a positive update: all five undergraduate programs under the College of Management Sciences have now received full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC).
These accredited courses, Accounting, banking and finance, economics, marketing, and business administration, are also officially listed on the JAMB Central Admission Processing System (CAPS), making them eligible for inclusion in the upcoming admission cycle once the cut-off scores are officially announced.
The development marks a significant milestone for MOUAU, reflecting its ongoing efforts to expand academic offerings and uphold quality standards in higher education.
The institution reassured all prospective students that legitimate admission updates will only be provided via its official website and through authorized JAMB channels.
“Candidates should not engage with any unofficial agents or platforms promising admission slots. These are criminal acts meant to deceive the public,” the statement read.
As the scramble for tertiary admissions intensifies following the release of UTME results, the university’s management urged candidates to stay informed and patient as official cut-off marks and screening guidelines are expected to be released in due course.
