NDLEA Intercepts Illicit Drugs Concealed in Green Tea Packaging
NDLEA uncovers psychoactive drugs disguised as green tea, warns it could harm users.
Nigerians urged to stay alert and report suspicious items.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered a shipment of dangerous psychoactive drugs deceptively packaged as green tea. The discovery was made during a recent operation by the agency, which continues to intensify efforts to curb the spread of illicit substances across the country.

According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the suspicious consignment was intercepted by operatives who became wary of the unusual labeling and packaging of what was initially presented as a routine green tea import.
Taking to his official X account (Twitter) on Sunday, Babafemi issued a strong warning to the public. He posted:
“This consignment is a green tea import in packaging and on the outside, but if you drink it, you may lose your mind because the real and undisclosed content is psychoactive substances as discovered by #ndlea_nigeria officers in one of our latest seizures. Shine your eyes.”
The agency has not yet disclosed the full quantity or origin of the intercepted consignment, but the incident has raised fresh concerns about how drug traffickers continue to evolve their methods to bypass law enforcement. The NDLEA urged Nigerians to be vigilant and report suspicious products or activities to authorities.
