Tacha Blasts Nigerian Pastors Over Viral Church Controversy

Reality star Tacha has called out Nigerian pastors, accusing them of gaslighting and double standards after a viral video showed Pastor Adefarasin confronting a car spotter.

She insists the incident was mishandled and says most pastors wouldn’t get away with such actions abroad, sparking heated online debates over religion and accountability.

UK-based Nigerian reality star Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has taken a bold swipe at Nigerian pastors, asserting that many of them would not get away with their actions if they were outside the country.

In a video shared via her X (Twitter) account, Tacha addressed the recent controversy surrounding Pastor Paul Adefarasin, the Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, and a car spotter. She criticized the pastor’s explanation over a viral clip that drew public backlash.

The clip in question shows Pastor Adefarasin confronting a car spotter while holding what appeared to be a pistol-like object. The pastor later denied brandishing a firearm and claimed the object wasn’t a weapon. He also stated that the car spotter had been aggressive during the encounter.

However, Tacha wasn’t convinced. Reacting to the incident, she dismissed Pastor Adefarasin’s account as an attempt to manipulate public perception. She insisted the video clearly showed him holding a weapon-like object and accused him of gaslighting.

“I wasn’t going to speak on the church drama until I saw today’s service clips,” she said. “There’s nothing I detest more than gaslighting. Everyone saw the video, we saw who the aggressor was.”

She continued, “Let me remind you, this pastor stopped his car, rolled down the window, held something that looked like a firearm, and said ‘Don’t do that’ to a boy who was simply filming. From the video, it even looked like the boy was praising him, not provoking him.”

Tacha went further to defend car spotters, saying they are common globally and that the young man did nothing wrong or aggressive.

“What pained me the most,” she added, “was the congregation cheering and applauding during the service. What exactly were you applauding? Did you not see the video? Or is it selective blindness?”

She didn’t stop there. Tacha criticized the double standards often applied in Nigeria when it comes to religious leaders. “Let’s be real,” she said, “90 percent of Nigerian pastors would never get away with this kind of behavior outside the country. If they practiced this version of Christianity elsewhere, their churches would shut down in a year.”

Drawing comparisons, Tacha pointed out the public outrage that would have followed had it been a political figure like Seyi Tinubu or Nyesom Wike involved in such a scene. “Social media would be on fire for days,” she said. “But because it’s a pastor, people are making excuses.”

Her comments have since sparked a fresh wave of debate online, with many applauding her outspokenness while others criticized her for targeting religious leaders.
