D’banj Ignites Social Media Buzz After Leaving Wizkid Out of His Top 3 Nigerian Musicians

D’banj stirred reactions online after revealing his current favorite music stars.

The unexpected list quickly ignited debates, as many questioned the absence of one of Nigeria’s biggest Afrobeats icons.

Legendary Nigerian singer and entertainer, D’banj, has set social media abuzz following his recent appearance on Adesope Live, where he revealed his current top three favorite music stars. In a move that surprised many, the Kokomaster left out Wizkid, of Nigeria’s most celebrated and internationally recognized artists from his list.

During the interview, D’banj praised the younger generation of Afrobeats artists and named Rema, Davido, and Burna Boy as his current top picks. He expressed admiration for their distinct styles, commitment, and growth in the industry.

“Shout out to Rema. “I admire his energy and the confidence with which he presents himself,” D’banj stated,” D’banj said. “Then there’s Davido. People need to learn from him, he moves like someone who has nothing, yet he’s always working and showing up. Burna Boy is too intentional. His live performances are out of this world.”

While D’banj’s comments were largely met with agreement, the absence of Wizkid from the list did not go unnoticed. Fans of the Grammy Award-winning star quickly took to social media to question the exclusion, sparking a wave of debates and speculation. Given Wizkid’s global success and longstanding influence on the Afrobeats scene, many were puzzled by the decision not to include him.

Some users defended D’banj’s list as a matter of personal preference, while others accused him of overlooking an artist who has played a vital role in shaping modern Nigerian music. The conversation quickly trended, with fans weighing in on who deserves a spot in the top three of Nigeria’s Afrobeats elite.

Despite the uproar, D’banj’s comments have sparked renewed discussions about the growth of Afrobeats, the dynamic talents of today’s rising stars, and the lasting impact of the pioneers who paved the way. Whether intentional or not, the omission has added another layer to the ongoing debate about who truly holds the crown in Nigeria’s vibrant music scene.
