Portable Calls Out Verydarkman Over Comments on Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy

Portable has blasted activist Verydarkman for criticizing Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy over flaunting wealth online.

He called out the activist’s hypocrisy, reminding fans of past struggles and defending the artists’ acts of generosity and impact.

Controversial Nigerian singer, Portable, has fired back at social commentator and activist Verydarkman over his recent remarks condemning top Afrobeat stars Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy for flaunting their wealth online.

Verydarkman had taken to social media to criticize the trio, accusing them of parading luxury cars and material possessions while allegedly failing to uplift their communities or contribute meaningfully to societal development. According to him, showcasing wealth without visible acts of philanthropy sends the wrong message to fans and the public.

However, Portable didn’t take kindly to the criticism and responded in his usual outspoken style. The Zazuu Zeh crooner accused Verydarkman of hypocrisy, reminding the public that the same activist who now speaks against flamboyance was once in a modest financial situation himself but recently purchased a luxury Benz.

“How can you claim that Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy are just buying cars without doing anything to support others?” Portable questioned. “Have you forgotten that Davido donated to charity? That Burna Boy gave me N20 million? What about you weren’t you drinking pure water before? Now you’ve bought a Benz, and you’re judging others?”

Portable emphasized that the artists in question have, over the years, made significant contributions to their fans and society. He specifically pointed out Davido’s well-known philanthropic gestures, including large donations to orphanages, and Burna Boy’s generosity, referencing his own personal experience of receiving N20 million from the Grammy-winning singer.

The singer’s comments have since sparked reactions on social media, with fans divided over who made the better point. While some supported Verydarkman’s call for more social impact from celebrities, others applauded Portable for defending the contributions of Nigeria’s music icons.

As the debate continues, the clash highlights ongoing discussions around celebrity influence, social responsibility, and the expectations placed on public figures in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
