Pastor Tunde Bakare Clarifies Purpose of Visit to Tinubu
Pastor Tunde Bakare has shut down speculations surrounding his visit to President Tinubu, clarifying it was not for personal gain.
He told his congregation the meeting focused on national development, not political appointments or self-serving ambitions
Pastor Tunde Bakare, the overseer of Citadel Global Community Church, has denied claims that his recent visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was for personal benefits.
Bakare, who took part in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary in 2023, visited President Tinubu at the State House last week. The visit led to widespread speculation, with some suggesting he might be seeking political favors or appointments.

However, while addressing his congregation during a Sunday sermon, Bakare dismissed the rumors. He stated clearly that his purpose for meeting the president was not driven by self-interest but rather by his desire to contribute to the nation’s progress.
“Some people think I went there to help myself. But help myself with what? In the past, I returned anything given to me. What do I need?” he asked the church.
After the meeting, Bakare also spoke to the press, explaining that their conversation focused on Nigeria’s development and ways to improve the country’s future.
He shared that he offered suggestions to President Tinubu during the visit, but emphasized that it is up to the president to decide whether or not to adopt any of them.
Bakare stressed that his vision remains focused on seeing Nigeria become a better country within his lifetime.
