2Face Idibia Raises Alarm Over Insecurity in Benue

2Face has broken his silence over the Benue killings, calling the violence a national emergency.

The singer demanded urgent action, saying Nigerians have moved past words and need real change.

Legendary Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face or 2Baba, has voiced his heartbreak and frustration over the escalating insecurity in his home state, Benue. The Afrobeats icon joined the growing number of voices condemning the recent wave of violence that has left many communities in shock and mourning.

The singer’s reaction comes in the wake of a brutal attack in Yelwata, a border town between Benue and Nasarawa States, where dozens of residents were reportedly killed by suspected herdsmen. The assault, which began around 10 p.m. on Friday, June 16, stretched into the early hours of the following day without any form of resistance or intervention.

In a video shared on social media, 2Face expressed deep sorrow and outrage, calling the situation a “national emergency” and demanding immediate, serious action from both state and federal authorities.

“My heart is heavy. I’m terribly sad, terribly angry!” he said. “What’s happening in Benue State has become a national emergency. I can’t wrap my head around it. It just feels like business as usual condemn the killings and move on. But this must stop!”

He went on to criticize the lack of concrete action from the government and urged Nigerians to treat the crisis with the seriousness it deserves.

“This issue should concern everyone in this country. It’s not a joke. It’s beyond condemnations. Real action needs to happen,” he continued. “Every time there’s another attack, we cry out to the governor, to the president. But nothing changes. It keeps happening. This is not funny anymore. We’ve gone beyond words now we need real results.”

2Face’s passionate plea has struck a chord with many Nigerians online, who echoed his frustration and called for swift and decisive measures to restore peace and security in Benue and other troubled regions across the country.
