Bayern Munich Demolish Auckland City 10-0 in Record-Breaking Club World Cup Opener

Bayern Munich sent shockwaves through the Club World Cup with a record-breaking 10-0 demolition of Auckland City.

Musiala’s hat-trick and Coman’s early double headlined a flawless, one-sided football masterclass.

Bayern Munich delivered a historic statement of intent at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, dismantling New Zealand’s Auckland City 10-0 in a Group C clash at West End Stadium. The German giants, led by head coach Vincent Kompany, wasted no time asserting dominance in what turned out to be the biggest winning margin in the tournament’s history.

Kingsley Coman opened the floodgates just six minutes in and doubled his tally in the 21st minute. By then, Sacha Boey had already added a goal of his own in the 18th minute, while Michael Olise struck twice before the halftime whistle, once in the 20th minute and again during first-half stoppage time.

Veteran forward Thomas Muller added his name to the scoresheet in the 45th minute, making it six by the break. The second half began with the substitution of Harry Kane, who left the pitch goalless, making way for Jamal Musiala.

Musiala, Bayern’s young midfield sensation, wasted no time making an impact. He scored three times in 21 minutes in the 67th, 73rd (from the penalty spot), and 84th minutes to complete a brilliant hat-trick. Muller then rounded off the tally in the 89th minute with his second goal of the night.

The match was a stark mismatch between Bayern’s elite squad and Auckland City’s team of semi-professionals, which includes players juggling day jobs as teachers and estate agents. From the outset, the European powerhouse controlled every aspect of the game, leaving Auckland chasing shadows.

This emphatic result broke the previous Club World Cup record for the biggest win, surpassing Al Hilal’s 6-1 victory over Al Jazira in 2022.

Bayern now top Group C and shift focus to their upcoming match against Argentine side Boca Juniors, while Auckland City must regroup ahead of their next fixture against Benfica. Both matches are scheduled for Friday.

With this explosive performance, Bayern Munich has made their intentions crystal clear: they are not just at the Club World Cup to participate; they are here to conquer.
