Daniel Regha Shares Humiliating Experience with Supermarket Security Over His Clothing

Daniel Regha has shared how a supermarket guard profiled him unfairly based on his appearance.

He called out the incident as demeaning and urged businesses to train staff on respect and equality.

Popular social media commentator Daniel Regha has opened up about an uncomfortable and embarrassing incident involving a supermarket security guard who, according to him, treated him poorly based solely on how he was dressed.

Taking to social media to recount the experience, Regha revealed that he had gone to a local supermarket when the security officer began profiling him based on his outfit. Without any justification, he said the guard acted rudely and suspiciously, seemingly assuming he couldn’t afford to shop there.

Regha described the situation as demeaning and pointed out how quick people are to judge others based on outward appearance. He stressed that clothing or style choices should never be used to assess someone’s worth, integrity, or financial status.

“This type of behavior is not only embarrassing but also reflects a larger societal problem,” he said. “Judging people by how they look is shallow and ignorant. That a person isn’t dressed to your expectations doesn’t mean they’re not worthy of respect.”

He further called for proper training of security and service workers, particularly in customer-facing roles, urging businesses to instill values of courtesy, equality, and non-discrimination in their staff.

Regha’s post has since sparked conversation across social platforms, with many Nigerians expressing similar frustrations about being profiled based on how they dress. While some applauded him for speaking up, others noted that such class-based prejudice is deeply rooted and will take continued advocacy and education to change.

The incident has reignited discussions around social perception and the importance of treating everyone with dignity, regardless of appearance or status. For Regha, it’s not just about fashion it’s about fairness, humanity, and mutual respect.
