FG to Host Nigeria’s First-Ever National Cybersecurity Conference in July

The Federal Government will host Nigeria’s first National Cybersecurity Conference in Abuja.

NITDA says the event aims to boost cyber resilience, foster innovation, and unite stakeholders nationwide.

In a bold step toward fortifying the country’s digital infrastructure and enhancing national cyber resilience, the Federal Government has announced plans to host the maiden edition of the National Cybersecurity Conference.

The landmark event, which will take place from July 9 to 10, 2025, at the Abuja Continental Hotel, is being organized by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA). Themed “Securing Nigeria’s Digital Future: Innovation, Collaboration, and Resilience”, the conference aims to position Nigeria as a strong contender in the global fight against cyber threats.

Announcing the development in a statement released on Sunday, NITDA revealed that the conference will serve as a strategic platform to bring together key players in the cybersecurity ecosystem. This includes public and private sector stakeholders, international experts, innovators, academia, and young Nigerian talents working in digital security.

According to NITDA’s Director-General, the conference reflects the government’s unwavering commitment to protecting Nigeria’s digital infrastructure, especially as the country accelerates its adoption of technology in various sectors of the economy.

“As we embrace the promises of digital transformation, we must also prepare for the risks that come with it. This conference is a crucial step in unifying national efforts to confront growing cyber threats and develop innovative, collaborative solutions,” the DG said.

The two-day hybrid event is being co-organized with QNA International, a renowned Dubai-based firm known for its expertise in hosting high-level global industry summits. Activities lined up include technical workshops, cybersecurity product exhibitions, keynote addresses by global security leaders, interactive panel discussions, and a Capture the Flag hackathon aimed at discovering and empowering talented young cybersecurity enthusiasts.

An awards dinner is also planned to recognize individuals and organizations making exceptional contributions to Nigeria’s cybersecurity landscape.

Among the key goals of the conference are: strengthening national cyber resilience, promoting international cooperation in fighting cybercrime, developing a skilled cybersecurity workforce, and encouraging inter-agency and cross-sector collaboration.

The Director-General called on stakeholders from government agencies, businesses, academia, civil society, and the media to take active roles in shaping Nigeria’s digital future.

“This is not just another conference it’s a national call to action,” he emphasized. “We urge all Nigerians to contribute their expertise and commitment to help place Nigeria at the forefront of global cybersecurity leadership.”

NITDA also highlighted the media’s vital role in public sensitization and called on journalists across the country to support awareness campaigns in the lead-up to the event. Help raise awareness by sharing this news below.
