Nigerian rapper and music executive Jude Abaga, popularly known as MI, has strongly condemned the recent wave of killings in Benue State, where over 200 villagers were brutally murdered by suspected herdsmen.
Taking to his X (Twitter) handle on Monday, MI expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the tragedy. He noted that the continuous violence in the Middle Belt region should no longer be met with silence or indifference.
“My heart is heavy,” he wrote. “It grieves me deeply to see so much of the Middle Belt bleed. The recent killings in Benue are not just statistics they are our people, our families, our communities being torn apart.”
The award-winning rapper offered his condolences to those affected by the massacre and urged Nigerians not to grow numb to the repeated bloodshed. “I stand in solidarity with my brothers and sisters in Benue. Your pain is my pain,” he continued. “We can’t normalize this cycle of violence that has plagued our land for too long. To those we’ve lost: we will not forget you. To those still standing, we stand with you.”
MI also emphasized the urgent need for concrete action and accountability. He called on the government to initiate a thorough and transparent investigation into the attacks while reinforcing security in vulnerable rural communities to prevent future tragedies.
