Toke Makinwa Advises Against Lowering Relationship Standards

Toke Makinwa urges people to know their worth, respect others’ choices, and stay true to themselves.

Criticizes online shaming of dating preferences, says everyone deserves what suits them.

Media personality and lifestyle entrepreneur, Toke Makinwa, has shared a strong message encouraging individuals to stand firm in their relationship expectations, regardless of public opinion or pressure. Speaking on a recent episode of her podcast, Makinwa emphasized the importance of self-worth and remaining true to one’s standards in love and dating.

She pointed out that people, especially women, are often unfairly criticized for having specific preferences in relationships, particularly when it comes to financial expectations. Makinwa argued that everyone has a right to desire what suits them, and those who don’t align with such preferences should simply move on without judgment.

“There’s absolutely no reason to attack someone for knowing what they want,” she said. “If their standards don’t match yours, walk away. There are billions of people in this world, find someone who suits you.”

Makinwa also criticized the online culture of shaming and dragging people for their dating choices, stating that many of these negative reactions stem from personal insecurities. She urged people to stop projecting their frustrations onto others.

“You don’t have to lower your standards just to please anyone,” she said. “If a woman wants a man who can provide financially, and you can’t, then move along. Someone else out there is happy to do that. The real problem is when people try to make others feel bad for wanting more.”

She went further to advise people to stop internalizing society’s pressures or the opinions of strangers online, insisting that confidence and self-awareness are key.

“There are people who truly believe they are royalty, and they carry themselves that way. Who are you to tell them otherwise? If they believe in their value, that’s what matters,” Makinwa concluded.

Her message has sparked conversation online, with many applauding her for boldly advocating self-respect and relationship clarity.
