Nigerian National Arrested in Bengaluru for Alleged Drug Peddling, ₹1.2 Crore Worth of Narcotics Seized
Indian police have arrested a Nigerian man, Chukuwuma, for allegedly running a decade-long drug ring.
He was caught in Bengaluru with MDMA worth over ₹1.2 crore during a targeted CCB raid.
A Nigerian man identified as Chukuwuma has been arrested by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) in Bengaluru, India, for his alleged involvement in drug trafficking. The arrest was made during a targeted raid in the Avalahalli area in the northern part of the city, according to a report by “India Today” on Tuesday.

The operation was carried out by the CCB’s Narcotics Wing, which had been monitoring Chukuwuma’s activities for several weeks. Acting on intelligence, officers launched a swift and coordinated raid that led to his arrest while he was reportedly attempting to distribute illegal drugs in the area.
During the raid, authorities confiscated a significant quantity of drugs, including MDMA tablets and crystal-like substances. The estimated value of the seized narcotics is over ₹1.2 crore (approximately ₦221 million), indicating the scale of the operation and the seriousness of the charges against him.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that Chukuwuma has allegedly been involved in drug trafficking for over a decade. Police sources disclosed that he has been active in the illegal drug trade since 2013 and is believed to have imported narcotics from outside India. These substances were reportedly distributed to various parts of Bengaluru, with a focus on the outskirts of the city where law enforcement presence is typically lighter.
Investigators also noted that Chukuwuma is suspected to be part of a larger international drug syndicate. His long-running operations and foreign connections have raised concerns among law enforcement officials about the growing reach of such criminal networks. The Bengaluru police had placed him under surveillance for several weeks before finally apprehending him.
“He had been operating under the radar for years, but we were able to track him through coordinated surveillance and intelligence gathering,” one senior police official stated.
The suspect is currently in police custody and is undergoing interrogation as authorities attempt to trace the full extent of his criminal network. Law enforcement agencies are now working to identify and apprehend his associates, both locally and internationally, in a bid to dismantle the broader syndicate he is believed to be affiliated with.
Officials have assured the public that they remain committed to cracking down on the drug trade and will continue their efforts to rid Bengaluru of narcotics-related crimes.
