EFCC Chairman Vows to Return Recovered Assets to Nigerians

EFCC says recovered assets must serve public good, not end up in private hands again.

Olukoyede made this known while handing over a seized property now transformed into a university.

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, restated the agency’s dedication to ensuring that properties seized from corrupt individuals are redirected for public benefit.

Speaking during his visit to the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, Southern Kaduna, Olukoyede said:

“This facility has now been given back to the people. We won’t allow recovered assets to fall back into the wrong hands. The era of looting what has already been recovered is over.”

He emphasized that the transformation of the property into a university was carried out in line with President Bola Tinubu’s instruction.

“President Tinubu, Vice President Shettima, and Governor Uba Sani have all played key roles in making this possible,” he added.

Impressed by the quality of the school’s infrastructure, Olukoyede remarked:

“Many established universities can’t boast of what’s here. The community now has the responsibility to take care of it so it serves generations to come.”

He further announced that academic activities would likely begin by September 2025 and assured that he would return to the campus once students resume.

“This is the true essence of fighting corruption, ensuring that what was stolen is brought back and used to serve the people,” he concluded.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Barnabas Qurix, described the development as a major milestone for the region.

Also commenting, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, who represents Kaduna South, praised the project as a much-needed advancement in a long-neglected area of the state.
