Sarah Martins Claps Back at Troll Over Marriage-Shaming Remark
Nollywood star claps back at critic who mocked her single status, urges women to stop marriage-shaming.
She says women should support each other, not use societal expectations to tear one another down.
Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has hit back strongly at a social media user who tried to mock her for not being married.

The drama began when a follower took to her comment section, referring to the actress as an “old woman” and urging her to “go and marry.” The unsolicited comment didn’t go unnoticed, prompting Sarah to clap back with both humor and a serious message.
In her response, the actress shared that the comment came in while she was busy working on a movie set, hustling for her “daily 2k.” Curious about who would leave such a message, Sarah decided to visit the troll’s page only to describe what she saw as “ikwikwi in human form,” a local slang used to mock someone’s appearance or behavior.
“I read the comment, nodded my head, and said let me check her page before blocking her. Only to find ikwikwi in human form,” Sarah wrote, clearly unimpressed by her critic.
She went further to question why women continue to tear one another down, especially when it comes to personal choices like marriage. Instead of supporting one another, she lamented how some women choose to weaponize societal expectations to shame others.
“Why do women marriage-shame women?” she asked. “We can do better.”
Sarah’s response has been met with mixed reactions online. While some applauded her for standing her ground and speaking out against online bullying, others weighed in on the larger conversation surrounding marriage expectations and public scrutiny of celebrities.
The actress’s candid reply has once again sparked dialogue on how social media is often used to attack public figures, particularly women, for their lifestyle choices. Many fans praised her for staying calm and smart, using the moment to call for more support among women.
