At least five people lost their lives on Saturday following a bomb explosion in Kano State. The tragic incident also left ten others injured and receiving medical treatment.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, Adamu Ibrahim, confirmed the explosion and said the blast was linked to a military-grade mortar device. He noted that the explosive was likely being transported when it detonated.

“I got a call about the incident and immediately rushed to the scene. When I got there, I discovered it was a suspected explosion involving a military mortar bomb. Fifteen people were affected. Five were confirmed dead while ten others were taken to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for treatment,” Ibrahim said.

However, it is still unclear whether the vehicle involved was carrying military personnel or private contractors.

As of the time this report was filed, officials had not released a definite explanation for the explosion. The incident has triggered fear and anxiety among residents of the area, who remain concerned about their safety.
