Terry G sparks online debate after boldly claiming he normalized cannabis use in music videos.
The eccentric singer says his influence gave artistes the courage to smoke publicly on screen.
Nigerian singer Gabriel Oche Amanyi, popularly known as Terry G, has credited himself with influencing a bold shift in the Nigerian music industry.

The artist, known for his eccentric style and energetic performances, claimed that he was the one who made it acceptable for musicians to smoke cannabis publicly in music videos and on screen.
According to him, before he gained fame, many Nigerian artistes lacked the courage to display such behavior openly.
Taking to his X (Twitter) account on Sunday, Terry G wrote:“ No hard feelings, it’s all love, but no forget say if no be my sacrifice, none of your fav go get liver to smoke Igbo for screen.”
His statement sparked mixed reactions online. While some fans supported his claim, others were quick to challenge it, noting that legendary Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti was known for smoking cannabis onstage and onscreen long before Terry G’s era.
