DStv Decoder Now ₦10,000 as MultiChoice Cuts Price by Half
MultiChoice Nigeria has slashed the price of its DStv decoder by 50 percent, now selling for ₦10,000.
The move aims to ease costs, reward loyalty, and recover from a sharp drop in subscriptions.
MultiChoice Nigeria has reduced the price of its DStv decoder by 50 percent, bringing it down from ₦20,000 to ₦10,000 in a move to win back customers and improve subscription rates.
The company’s Chief Executive Officer, John Ugbe, made this known in a statement on Tuesday. He explained that the price slash is part of a broader campaign aimed at showing appreciation to loyal customers while offering them better value.
“We want our customers to feel valued and enjoy great entertainment every day. This campaign, called ‘We Got You,’ is about making DStv content more affordable and showing that there’s something for everyone not just football lovers,” Ugbe said.
He added that DStv is shifting its focus to provide daily value, encouraging users to explore a wider range of content, including drama, movies, children’s shows, and news.
The company is also offering a special promo that allows active users to get a free upgrade to the next subscription package. This offer is valid for customers who fully pay for their current package between June 16 and July 31, 2025.
MultiChoice noted that both the decoder discount and the free upgrade promo are designed to ease the financial burden many Nigerians are facing.
This development follows a significant drop in subscriber numbers, with MultiChoice losing 1.4 million users between March 2023 and March 2025.
It’s worth recalling that the company raised prices on both its DStv and GOtv packages three times in the past year first in April 2023, then in November 2023, and most recently in April 2024, with the latest changes taking effect on May 1.
