Kazim Adeoti Opens Up on What Made Him Marry Mercy Aigbe
Kazim Adeoti shared how Mercy Aigbe’s honesty during a 2011 film job won his respect.
He recalled how she returned excess payment, showing rare integrity that later sparked love.
Nollywood filmmaker Kazim Adeoti has revealed the moment he realized actress Mercy Aigbe was different from the rest and why he eventually chose to marry her.

Speaking during an interview with Oyinmomo TV, Adeoti recounted their first professional encounter in 2011 when he featured Mercy in his film “Hajia Jemila”. According to him, her honesty and integrity left a lasting impression that eventually blossomed into something deeper.
“At the time, I was used to actors and actresses complaining that I didn’t pay enough,” he said. “But Mercy surprised me. After I paid her, she actually came back to say I had overpaid her. She thanked me and returned the excess. That really shocked me.”
Kazim said her actions stood out in an industry where many often put money before integrity. Despite being advised to only work closely with men to succeed in the industry, he chose to continue working with Mercy and has never looked back.
“What I really admire about her is her honesty and straightforwardness. Many told me to avoid women if I wanted to go far, but Mercy changed that mindset. She’s not just a woman, but a beautiful one, and yet she carried herself with so much integrity,” he added.
He noted that he never took the extra money back from her and that the experience marked the beginning of a strong working relationship and eventual romantic connection.
Kazim’s heartfelt account offers a glimpse into the foundation of his relationship with Mercy Aigbe, one built on mutual respect and trust long before love entered the picture.
