What began as a joyful celebration quickly turned emotional as she shared her pain on TikTok.
A bittersweet moment turned heartbreaking for a fresh graduate of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), who was left in tears after her iPhone 14 was stolen during her convocation ceremony.
The young woman, overwhelmed with emotion, took to TikTok to share her ordeal. According to her, the phone which she had used for two years was stolen amid the celebrations. What was meant to be a joyful day quickly turned into a nightmare.
“So with all the convocation paparazzi I did, all the content, everything because I was super excited only for my phone to actually be stolen today on the day of my convocation,” she said in the emotional video. “It feels like a dream. Somebody should wake me up.”
She added that her parents had traveled all the way from Ibadan to celebrate with her, but the incident completely ruined the mood. “I opened my bag and couldn’t find my phone. I didn’t even get to enter the hall. I’ve been crying since morning. I can’t afford another phone not even an Android. I don’t know where to start from,” she tearfully lamented.
The post sparked an outpouring of sympathy and support from social media users. Some shared their own stories of losing phones during major events, while others offered advice on how to track the stolen device.
One user commented, “Phone wey you fit track go to Iyaganku if you’re in Ibadan, they will help you get it back.” Another wrote, “God will send a helper to you. Be strong, stranger.”
