Kebbi Declares Friday Public Holiday for Islamic New Year

Kebbi State has declared Friday, June 27, a public holiday to mark the Islamic New Year.

The government urges institutions to comply, with normal activities set to resume on June 30.

The Kebbi State Government has announced that Friday, June 27, will be observed as a public holiday to mark the beginning of the Islamic New Year, 1447 AH.

This decision was made public in a statement released on Thursday by Malami A. Maiyama, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Establishment, Pension and Training. He explained that the holiday is aimed at allowing citizens, especially public workers, the chance to observe and celebrate the start of the new Islamic calendar year.

“The public holiday is to enable residents, particularly civil servants, to commemorate the beginning of the Islamic New Year,” the statement read.

Maiyama also noted that regular work will resume on Monday, June 30. In light of the declaration, the government has advised all public and private organizations across the state to take note of the directive and act accordingly. Institutions were urged to ensure full compliance with the holiday announcement.
