Odumodublvck Claims No Nigerian Hip-Hop Song Comes Close to ‘Declan Rice’
Odumodublvck says no Nigerian rap song matches the global impact of his hit ‘Declan Rice’.
He defends his style, claiming critics are threatened by his success and cultural influence.
Controversial rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has declared that no Nigerian hip-hop track has had a greater cultural impact than his 2023 hit, Declan Rice.
During an interview on The Beat 99.9 FM in Lagos, the rapper responded to critics who dismiss his rap style, claiming they are simply intimidated by his rising success.
According to Odumodublvck, ‘Declan Rice’ isn’t just a hit it’s the most globally influential Nigerian hip-hop song to date.
“In the history of Nigerian hip-hop, no song has had more impact in the world like ’Declan Rice’,” he said. “It’s the biggest digital asset on Arsenal Football Club’s social media. Check it.”
The song gained international attention when it was used by English Premier League club Arsenal to announce the signing of midfielder Declan Rice in July 2023 a historic moment both for the artist and Nigerian music.
The rapper also defended his versatility and lyrical strength, referencing his recent work “Good Devil Wells White” with Larry G as proof of his ability to deliver powerful verses across different languages and styles.
“We’ve done verses in English, Vernacular, Patois everything,” he said. “But they talk down on it because they feel intimidated.”
Odumodublvck challenged critics to name any Nigerian rap line more culturally impactful than his bars in ‘Cast’, insisting the dismissals are baseless.
“They say I’m not a rapper? That’s a fallacy. That’s ungrateful. And God will punish all of them,” he said, visibly frustrated.
