APC Names Dalori as Acting National Chairman After Ganduje’s Resignation
APC has appointed Ali Bukar Dalori as its new acting National Chairman of the party.
The decision aims to strengthen party unity and prepare ahead of the 2027 elections.
Newskobo.com earlier reported the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Alhaji Ali Bukar Dalori as the new acting National Chairman of the party following the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Ganduje, who stepped down on Friday, reportedly faced pressure from within the party over his handling of recent political affairs, particularly the controversy surrounding the party’s Area Council primaries in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Insiders revealed that the last straw was the Bwari Area Council chairmanship primary, which was marred by irregularities. Allegations surfaced that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) overseeing the primary was seen intimidating other aspirants, effectively paving the way for Hon. Joshua Musa Ishaku described by some party members as a loyalist of the opposition and a non-supporter of President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 primaries to emerge unchallenged.
“The disgraceful conduct of the Bwari primary made Ganduje’s position untenable,” a party source said.
Ganduje’s departure also follows sustained demands from stakeholders, particularly from the North Central region, who have argued that the chairmanship should return to their zone. The former Kano State governor had assumed office in August 2023 after the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu, but his leadership has since faced internal criticisms over alleged marginalization and power imbalance.
To ensure stability ahead of the party’s national convention scheduled for December, the APC has temporarily elevated Dalori one of its current national vice chairmen to serve as acting chairman. The move is seen as a tactical effort to maintain cohesion within the party and prepare for the 2027 general elections.
Sources within the APC National Working Committee said Ganduje’s resignation was part of a larger agreement aimed at reinforcing unity and giving all geopolitical zones a sense of inclusion within the party’s leadership structure.
