Davido Criticizes Fan for Bringing Baby to Crowded Concert in Umuahia
Davido halts live show to confront fan spotted holding a baby in a packed crowd.
The singer calls the act dangerous, sparking debate over safety and concert conduct.
Afrobeats sensation Davido recently paused his performance mid-song to confront a concertgoer who brought a newborn baby into the middle of a packed crowd. The event, which took place in Umuahia, Abia State, has stirred widespread discussion online.
The incident unfolded while Davido was performing his popular track Ogechi. A video making the rounds on social media shows the artist abruptly stopping after spotting a distressed audience member clutching an infant amid the tightly packed crowd.
Visibly alarmed, the singer called out the individual from the stage. “Why you carry baby come? Are you crazy? Carry your baby comot! You are a wicked person!” Davido shouted, visibly upset about the potential danger the child was in.
The moment quickly gained traction online, prompting a wave of reactions. Some praised the artist for prioritizing the child’s safety, while others felt his approach could have been less confrontational.
Social media users were divided on the matter. A user, @mrsotheeducator, hinted that the fan might have brought the baby hoping Davido would give them money, saying: “In their mind, Davido will see the baby and dash it money.”
@thisisfegor saw the moment as a reflection of the singer’s parental instincts: “He’s such a good dad.. he say na ‘you are a wicked person’.. the song no sweet am again.”
Another user, abebi_omotanwa, voiced concern for the child’s well-being: “Why will u bring baby to this kind place if anything happen to the baby now I will be shouting Davido name 😮😮😮.”
However, not everyone agreed with the way he reacted. flaé_rossy questioned the artist’s choice of words: “If na outside Nigeria can u tell a fan that is he crazy 🤔.”
While the crowd appeared divided over the tone of Davido’s reaction, many agreed that the presence of an infant in such an environment posed a serious safety risk.
