M.I Abaga Expresses Regret Over Supporting APC in 2015
M.I Abaga admits backing APC in 2015 was a mistake driven by frustration over corruption.
Now focused on advocacy and music, he vows to hold leaders accountable and inspire change.
Renowned Nigerian rapper Jude Abaga, widely known as M.I Abaga, has candidly revealed that he regrets backing the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2015 general elections.

Speaking during a recent episode of the Menism podcast, the acclaimed rapper revealed that his decision to back the APC at the time was driven by frustration over the corruption which he felt was widespread under the then-governing People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
“Yes, I supported APC because at that time, I felt that the PDP government was very corrupt. I was part of the people who lifted my voice to say, ‘Let us stand and bring in democracy,’” M.I stated.
However, he acknowledged that the party has failed to meet the expectations he once had. His support for the APC resurfaced in public discourse after he commented on herdsmen attacks in Benue State via Twitter, prompting many users to remind him of his political alignment in 2015.
“I tweeted about the thing that happened in Benue and a lot of people were saying, ‘But M.I, you supported the APC,’” he recalled.
Reflecting on his past decision, M.I admitted it was a mistake.
“As a human being, no matter how much you try to be right, you will be wrong sometimes. APC unfortunately isn’t the APC of my dreams,” he said.
Now, the rapper says his priorities have shifted. He’s focused on nation-building through music, advocacy, and empowering youth. M.I emphasized his commitment to using his platform to promote positive change and hold leaders accountable.
