Controversial Nigerian show promoter, Sam Larry, has released an audio recording of a private phone conversation with rapper Zlatan Ibile in a bid to defend himself against renewed allegations of bullying late singer Mohbad.

The leaked audio surfaced just days after Sam Larry’s tell-all interview with activist VeryDarkMan, where he denied ever assaulting Mohbad and claimed he was being wrongly vilified. In the call, Sam Larry pleaded with Zlatan to help clarify the situation publicly.

“Please, help me explain what really happened. They keep pushing this bullying narrative. It’s not true,” Sam Larry said in the recording.

Zlatan, however, expressed reluctance to get involved, explaining that he had intentionally distanced himself from the controversy for over two years due to pressure from his family and fear of online backlash.

“I am being careful; I will recommend giving a press statement. It’s been over two years since I refused to get involved in this saga. My mum and dad have warned me not to get involved; the last time I was dragged over what I said online, I was traumatized,” Zlatan responded.

He also addressed the widely circulated 9-second video clip that many believe shows Sam Larry confronting Mohbad, claiming it was edited to mislead the public.

“The media is very toxic; they cropped the video to push an agenda. This is why I don’t want to be involved… I know you are not like that, but I’ve been avoiding this matter to protect myself,” he added.

Zlatan further explained that he keeps his family off social media to shield them from the harsh realities of online toxicity, emphasizing his need to protect their well-being.

Following the release of the audio, activist VeryDarkMan has issued an ultimatum to Zlatan, giving him 48 hours to publicly clarify his position and set the record straight. The situation continues to stir strong reactions online as Nigerians demand full transparency over the events surrounding Mohbad’s tragic death.
