Oyedepo Warns Church Members Ahead of 2027 Elections

Bishop Oyedepo warns Nigerians to vote wisely in 2027, rejecting money politics and tribal loyalty.

He stressed that past mistakes led to hardship, urging citizens to prioritize competence over sentiment.

Founder of Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo, has urged his congregation to approach the 2027 general elections with greater wisdom and discernment, stressing the importance of making informed decisions at the polls.

During a recent church service, the influential clergyman delivered a passionate message aimed at encouraging political awareness and rejecting the culture of vote-selling. He criticized Nigerians who accepted money during the last election cycle and questioned whether that money had made any lasting difference in their lives.

“The money they gave you in the last election, I’m sure it’s still there,” Oyedepo remarked. “I don’t think any member of this church will play the fool this time.”

He went on to express his dismay over the erosion of federal character in Nigeria’s political landscape, citing the rise of power concentration in certain regions and religious affiliations.

“Today you have Muslim-Muslim ticket being propagated, tomorrow Fulani-Fulani propagated, next tomorrow governors transfer it to their own brothers because federal character has been destroyed,” he added.

His comments struck a chord online, with many Nigerians echoing his concerns and reflecting on the state of the nation under the current leadership.

@churchill_777 lamented:

“After mocking Peter Obi and claiming to teach him a lesson:”

Many have sold their cars, many cannot pay rent, many are drinking roots and agbo because they can’t afford medicines… The results of bad governance don’t respect tribe or religion. But will they learn?”

@_bigkhalif recalled past debates:

“I remember the arguments I had with some Yoruba people over their support for their ‘brother’ taking power; now, there are more beggars on the streets of Lagos than Almajiri in the North.”

@_mrbelieve wrote:

“It’s really sad. If you’re privileged to travel outside Nigeria, you’ll weep for what is happening.”

@igbalodebanker added:

“Do you hear the prayer point? ‘God deliver Nigeria from making another wrong choice’, meaning we’ve already made one. If you like, collect ₦2k and vote wrong again.”

Oyedepo’s message comes at a time when public dissatisfaction with Nigeria’s current leadership is rising, and many citizens are already looking ahead to 2027 with hopes for real change.
