South-South APC Leaders Declare Support for Tinubu’s Re-Election Bid
South-South APC leaders have declared support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election at a party meeting.
They praised his reforms and vowed to deliver massive votes, citing unity and performance.
Governors and key figures of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria’s South-South region have officially declared their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term in office.
The endorsement was made during an APC stakeholders’ interactive session held on Saturday in Benin City, Edo State. According to a statement by Fred Itua, spokesperson for Governor Monday Okpebholo, party leaders used the occasion to commend President Tinubu’s leadership and reaffirm their commitment to the continuation of his Renewed Hope Agenda in 2027.
Among the prominent figures present were Senator Adams Oshiomhole (Edo North), Minister of Regional Development Hon. Abubakar Momoh, Cross River State Governor Bassey Edet Otu who spoke on behalf of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and former Bayelsa State Governor Timipre Sylva.
Others in attendance included Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission; Edo State Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa; Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly Blessing Agbebaku; Secretary to the State Government Umar Musa Ikhilor; APC National Woman Leader Mary Idele Alile; Edo APC Chairman Jarret Tenebe; and APC stalwart Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
During the session, the speakers unanimously passed a vote of confidence in both President Tinubu and Governor Okpebholo, citing the administration’s achievements and reform initiatives.
Some of the reforms highlighted include the student loan scheme and the removal of tax burdens on low-income earners. These policies, they argued, underscore the administration’s commitment to inclusive development and economic fairness.
Governor Okpebholo, while addressing the gathering, expressed appreciation for the solidarity shown by his colleagues and party members, describing the meeting as a rare demonstration of unity in the South-South region.
“This is the first time we are seeing unity among the governors coming together in a single room to discuss the progress of this country,” he said.
He praised President Tinubu’s leadership style, describing him as a “capacity working president” who has provided the necessary tools and environment for governance to thrive. Okpebholo also commended Tinubu’s courage in implementing reforms, which he said are simplifying governance and improving service delivery.
“Things you think are difficult are made easy through his policies,” the governor noted, adding that the president’s tough decisions are already yielding positive results.
Reaffirming his political commitment, Okpebholo vowed once again to deliver 2.5 million votes for Tinubu in Edo State during the 2027 presidential election.
Brushing aside doubts from opposition parties, he declared that it would surely happen since he was already working and constructing good roads.
