Tacha Slams Online Trolls Over Viral Asherkine and Becky Controversy
Tacha has defended Becky amid backlash over a viral video with influencer Asherkine.
She slammed online trolls for spreading lies and urged Becky to take legal action.
Media personality and former Big Brother Naija star, Tacha, has addressed the ongoing drama surrounding a viral video involving Nigerian influencer Asherkine and a female fan, Becky.
The controversy began after Becky reportedly told Asherkine that she had never been in a relationship. The story took a dramatic turn when a man came forward, alleging that he had dated Becky for two years. To back his claims, he shared screenshots of a chat in which Becky allegedly told him she was visiting her mother.
Becky has since strongly refuted the accusations, denying any knowledge of the man and stating that the name he used doesn’t even match her actual identity. “I do not know this boy,” she said. “I have never had a boyfriend before and nothing will change my statement.”
Tacha weighed in on the matter in a video posted on Instagram. Comparing online trolls to the “wicked aunties and uncles” Nigerian parents used to warn their children about, she said, “They’re no longer in the village, they’re all on Twitter Nigeria.”
She criticized those who twisted what she described as an innocent moment in Asherkine’s video into a scandal, accusing them of manufacturing false chats and accusations just to shame the woman involved.
According to Tacha, the situation spiraled because many Nigerian men are quick to brand women as gold diggers. “That’s why they believed and circulated the false narrative that she denied her boyfriend for money,” she said.
Tacha encouraged Becky to consider taking legal action against those spreading the falsehood and urged people to stop tearing others down out of boredom or malice. “The wicked people our parents warned us about are now online…Twitter influencers, bloggers, all of them,” she added.
