Lalude calls out Sola Sobowale for ignoring him at event, says he felt disrespected.
Veteran actor recalls mentoring her early career, questions lack of acknowledgment in public.
Veteran Nollywood actor Lalude has publicly expressed his disappointment with fellow actress Sola Sobowale, accusing her of disrespecting him at a recent event.
Lalude recounted the incident during an appearance on Behind the Fame: African A-List, hosted by Olayemi Olayinka, where Sobowale ignored him despite her knowledge of his presence.
The seasoned actor said he found her behavior both hurtful and unexpected, especially considering their history in the industry and the fact that she is not his senior in age or experience.
“She did something that pained me one day, I was at Olayemi Olayinka’s show and I heard Sola Sobowale was there and she knew I was around also, but didn’t bother to come say hi, she’s not even older than me. Back then, when we were doing Uncle Jide Kosoko’s play ‘Ogun Awoyaya’ at the National Theatre, that was when Ngozi brought her to me and introduced her to me,” Lalude recalled.
He went on to explain that he was among those who welcomed and supported Sobowale when she was just starting out in the film industry.
“She was trying to join acting, as much as I like, but what she did that day surprised me. Regardless of her living abroad, she’s not truly wealthy. We were there with Yinka, and she went to the stage and left without seeing me, that’s the only thing that pained me,” he added.
This presents the issue recognition and respect among actors in Nollywood.
