Security forces in Libya have arrested a group of suspected kidnappers believed to be behind the abduction of a Nigerian woman in the country.

According to Migrant Rescue Watch (MRW), the operation was carried out by the Joint Police Forces after receiving reliable intelligence about the incident. The officers conducted a raid on Monday, June 30, 2025, at a hideout located in Surman City, which is in the Tripolitania region of northwestern Libya.
The police successfully rescued the woman during the raid and took the suspects into custody.
In a post on its X handle, MRW shared a video of the operation and stated: “Joint Police Forces in response to a kidnapping report of a Nigerian woman carried out raid on a location in Sorman and arrested a gang of sub-Saharan #migrants who demanded ransom in exchange for release. During police operation the victim was released unharmed and the perpetrators referred to public prosecution for legal action.”
