Troops Eliminate 10 Terrorists in Lake Chad Border Operation

Troops eliminate 10 insurgents in fierce border clash near Lake Chad, weapons recovered.

Joint forces push deeper into terror zones, maintaining pressure with ground and aerial support.

Troops of the Nigerian Army, under Operation Hadin Kai, in collaboration with the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), have successfully eliminated 10 terrorists during an intense firefight in the southern Lake Chad region. The engagement reportedly took place along the Rann–Gamboru Ngala axis, a corridor near Nigeria’s border with Cameroon, known for insurgent activity.

The military operation was part of a broader clearance effort targeting insurgent hideouts within border communities. The joint forces, which include personnel from neighboring countries, have intensified their presence in this volatile area as part of renewed strategies to restore peace and dismantle the operational capabilities of terrorist groups. The latest offensive highlights the determination of regional security forces to rid the area of extremist elements that have destabilized the region for over a decade.

According to internal military briefings, the operation was a deliberate combing maneuver intended to flush out remaining pockets of insurgents who continue to pose a threat to civilian populations and hinder humanitarian access in these border zones. During the operation, troops reportedly engaged the terrorists in a gun battle that resulted in the neutralization of at least 10 fighters, while others fled the scene with varying degrees of injuries.

Troops recovered arms, ammunition, and other military-grade equipment from the terrorists, indicating the group’s intent to reestablish a foothold in the area. However, the swift response by the combined forces prevented any escalation, and efforts are ongoing to pursue fleeing elements through coordinated air and ground surveillance.

Security analysts believe that sustained military pressure and joint regional collaboration remain vital to achieving long-term stability in the Lake Chad Basin. Meanwhile, the armed forces have reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding communities and maintaining pressure on any terrorist cells attempting to regroup in the region.
