Yul Edochie Calls on Igbos to Return to Ancestral Process in Choosing Monarchs
Yul Edochie urges Igbos to reject modern monarch selection, backs ancestral methods.
Actor says only deity-chosen rulers can restore truth and fight evil in communities.
Controversial Nollywood actor and filmmaker Yul Edochie has issued a strong message to the Igbo community and traditional rulers in the Southeast, urging them to abandon modern systems of selecting monarchs.

In a post shared on his Instagram page, Edochie criticized the current approach of electing or appointing traditional rulers, advocating instead for a return to ancestral customs and spiritual selection processes.
He wrote:
“Ndi Igbo, stop messing up our tradition.
A traditional ruler must be selected traditionally, not by election, not by the government.
And he must be a core traditionalist.
Those are the ways of our forefathers.
We have now embraced too much of the white man’s ways and destroyed our society with it.
That’s why there’s so much crime in our communities today.
It’s time to retrace our steps and bring back our glory.
A traditional ruler must be selected by the deity of the land.
Then he will swear before the deity to uphold truth, unity and peace, and shun evil.
Any day he goes against the oath, the deity will strike him down.
With that, he will never support evil, and he’ll fight evil with all his might.”
