Traditional Leader Abducted by Suspected Bandits in Katsina Village

Gunmen stormed Karaduwa village in Katsina State and abducted a prominent local leader before dawn.

The attackers arrived on motorcycles and targeted the traditional ruler’s home directly.

Suspected bandits have kidnapped a traditional leader, Alhaji Abdullahi Muhammadu Bello, during an early morning raid on Karaduwa village in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The incident reportedly occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Friday when the attackers, armed and riding motorcycles, entered the village and went straight to the home of the 60-year-old leader. Bello, who holds the title of Wakilin Hakimin Matazu, was forcefully taken from his residence and whisked away to an unknown destination.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama shared details of the incident in a post on X (Twitter) on Saturday. He revealed that efforts to rescue the victim began shortly after the abduction. A team of security personnel, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Matazu, rushed to the scene using Armored Personnel Carriers. However, the suspects had already escaped before the team could intercept them.

Police authorities have confirmed that a manhunt is ongoing. Surveillance and tracking measures have been intensified to locate the abductors and ensure Bello’s safe return.

Meanwhile, residents of Karaduwa and nearby communities have been urged to stay alert and report any suspicious movement to law enforcement officers without delay.
