Reekado Banks Opens Up About Past Clash with Wizkid, Says They’re Now on Good Terms
Reekado Banks says he and Wizkid have reconciled after their 2020 online fallout.
He reveals Wizkid recently visited him, expressed regret, and they are now on good terms.
Nigerian singer Reekado Banks has shared his thoughts on his 2020 fallout with Wizkid, revealing that things have since been settled between them.
Speaking during a recent podcast interview, Reekado was asked about the time Wizkid called him out online during the #EndSARS protests. Back then, Reekado had posted about his song Omo Olomo, which led Wizkid to lash out at him on social media, calling him a “fool” and a “clout animal.”
Looking back, Reekado admitted the situation wasn’t easy, especially since he wasn’t in support of releasing the song at that time.
“Not the nicest, especially considering I didn’t want to put the music out. I had urged my management at the time not to put it out, but they were convinced that it wasn’t a problem… It was so bad at the time. I was able to move on from it,” he said.
When asked if he regrets putting out the song, Reekado said the experience taught him to trust his own judgment.
“Absolutely. So there is not much that I am convinced to do these days that I do not do,” he added.
He also shared that Wizkid recently visited his restaurant and they had a brief conversation. According to Reekado, Wizkid expressed regret over the way he handled things.
“Recently, he came visiting my restaurant. We had a little talk, and he was a little regretful about it. He was like he shouldn’t have gone that route. He mentioned his behavior towards Don Jazzy as well, and he was like we are three people in the game that have only recently lost our moms. He feels sorry about the time and it’s good now,” Reekado explained.
The singer confirmed that they’ve moved past the incident and are now on good terms.
