Nigeria’s former president, Muhammadu Buhari, has reportedly passed away in London, according to a message shared on social media by his former aide, Bashir Ahmad.

In the post shared on X (Twitter), Ahmad stated that the family of the ex-president confirmed his death, which occurred on Sunday afternoon at a clinic in London. He offered prayers for Buhari’s soul, asking Allah to grant him a place in Aljannatul Firdaus.
Buhari served as Nigeria’s president from 2015 to 2023 and was widely recognised for his anti-corruption stance and economic reform initiatives. Before his time as an elected leader, he also ruled Nigeria as a military head of state from 1983 to 1985.
The family is expected to announce burial details soon, in line with Islamic customs.
